Crafting in Age of Conan is fairly straight forward. You can't start crafting until you are level of 40. The professions that you can train in are gemcutting, armorsmithing, weaponsmithing, alchemy and architecture.

The gemcutter collects gems from killing mobs and then transforms them into usable gems to be fitted into gem slots in various amour and weapon pieces, the armoursmith takes care of making all armour from cloth to heavy, the weaponsmith takes care of everything from staves to two handed bad ass weapons, the alchemist collects their ingredients from mobs to make potions of various kinds, health, mana etc and the architect makes buildings for your guild city along with weapons for the walls for defending the city.

Currently, you can have any combination of two crafting professions in Age of Conan.. Whether you can change those professions at any point in the game is not know so be carefull when choosing.

Once you get to level 40, and you know which professions you want, head to one of the guild city zones to train in your prefered craft. The current zones where these NPC's can be found are called Potain, Purple Lotus Swamp and Lacheish Plains. Potain is in the NW corner of the wildlands, Purple Lotus Swamp is in the south central area of Khopshep Province and lachiesh Plains is on the far west side of the Field of the Dead.
